Mental Health Awareness Week 2025: You’re Not Alone
This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week, an important moment to reflect on the wellbeing of ourselves and those around us. Mental health affects every one of us—directly or indirectly—and yet, it’s still something that many people find hard to talk about.
The theme for 2025 is “Movement: Moving more for our mental health.” Whether it’s a walk in the fresh air, time in the garden, or a local fitness class, movement can be a powerful way to boost our mental wellbeing. But improving our mental health goes beyond physical activity. It’s also about staying connected, finding support, and knowing where to turn when things feel overwhelming.
In every community—including ours here in Great Yarmouth—there are people facing challenges we may not see: stress, anxiety, loneliness, grief, or deeper struggles. This week is a reminder that we all have a role to play in creating a more understanding, supportive environment.
If you’re struggling, please don’t suffer in silence. There are people and organisations ready to walk with you:
- Mind – www.mind.org.uk – support and advice for anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
- Samaritans – Call 116 123, free and confidential, 24/7.
- NHS Mental Health Services – Call 101, and Option 2.
- CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) – www.thecalmzone.net – especially supporting men’s mental health.
Mental health matters. Not just this week, but every week. So let’s keep the conversation going, look out for one another, and remember: no one needs to face their struggles alone.
