Local Business

Local businesses form the backbone of our economy, creating jobs, fostering innovation, and cultivating a unique sense of character that sets Great Yarmouth apart. In the face of economic challenges, it becomes increasingly apparent that supporting and promoting our local businesses is not just a matter of economic strategy but an investment in the very essence of our town.

First and foremost, local businesses are pivotal in generating employment opportunities for our residents. By supporting these enterprises, we not only create jobs but also nurture a sense of community and interconnectedness. Every position filled in a local store or service provider contributes to the livelihood of a Great Yarmouth family. I am committed to advocating for policies that encourage the growth of local businesses, ensuring that residents have ample opportunities for meaningful employment.

Moreover, local businesses play a crucial role in shaping the distinctive character of Great Yarmouth. From the charming independent shops that line our streets to the cozy cafes where locals gather, these establishments form the tapestry of our town's identity. They embody the spirit of entrepreneurship and community, creating a unique atmosphere that attracts visitors and instills a sense of pride among residents. As we work together to enhance the attractiveness of our town, I believe that supporting and promoting the diversity of our local businesses is key to preserving the charm and authenticity that makes Great Yarmouth special.

In addition to economic and cultural contributions, local businesses are essential for fostering innovation and sustainability. Often more adaptable to the needs and desires of the community, small and local enterprises can serve as pioneers in adopting environmentally friendly practices, contributing to a more sustainable and resilient local economy. As a councillor, I am dedicated to exploring initiatives that incentivize and reward businesses for adopting eco-friendly practices, ensuring that Great Yarmouth continues to thrive in an ever-evolving economic landscape.

Visiting local businesses in Great Yarmouth is vitally important. So it was great to pay a visit to Armultra recently to see the work they doing with apprenticeships for young people.
