Great Yarmouth is my home. It’s where I grew up, where I’ve worked, and where I’ve had the privilege of serving as a borough councillor for close to a decade.
I got involved in politics for a pretty simple reason: to get things done and make life better for the people around me.
I’m a Conservative, and I don’t hide from what I believe. I believe in hard work, personal responsibility, supporting businesses, keeping taxes as low as reasonably possible, protecting those who genuinely need our help, and making sure people who work hard can get on in life.
But being an elected representative is about much more than politics.
Most days it’s potholes, planning, housing, trees, bins, anti-social behaviour, helping businesses, answering emails and taking up problems that residents simply can’t get resolved themselves.
If you contact me with an issue, I won’t just tell you to download an app and report it yourself. If I can help, I will. My time is your time.
I’m also passionate about the bigger picture. I want Great Yarmouth to have more skilled jobs, better opportunities for our people, thriving businesses, a strong energy sector, and the infrastructure we seriously need.
So, I'm honoured to be adopted by the Great Yarmouth Conservative Association as their Parliamentary Spokesman for Great Yarmouth. It gives me another opportunity to listen, speak up for our area and make sure the issues that matter here are heard much further afield.
I won’t always get everything right, and naturally we won’t always agree. That’s part of public life. But I’ll always try to be open and honest about what I believe, while listening to and respecting other points of view.
For me, public service should ultimately be about exactly that: service.
Great Yarmouth has given me a great deal all through my life.
I intend to keep giving something back.
